The world's smallest flowering plant in the world is the wolffia that is a type of duckweed that floats on the surface of water. Each plant resembles a tiny speck of cornmeal. The wolffia is high in protein and is collected from the surface of the waters where they grow and are eaten as a veggie in much of Asia.
It is named for the German botanist and physician Herr Dr. Johann Friedrich Wolff (1778-1866).
